In partnership with Calvary Christian Assembly, NFC (National Facility Contractors) executed a comprehensive landscape transformation that turned underutilized outdoor areas into an inviting, multifunctional community environment. The project aimed to create a space that fosters connection, rest, and reflection while reinforcing the church’s outreach mission. From planning and design through to complete installation, NFC delivered a high-impact project that balances function, beauty, and stewardship.
Our enhancements included paver patios, a synthetic turf dog park, low-voltage landscape lighting, water features, and a custom waterfall-integrated sign. The final result is a unified and visually stunning space that supports gatherings, recreation, and quiet moments alike.
Calvary Christian Assembly (CCA) has served the Roosevelt neighborhood of Seattle since 1927. The church is a beacon of faith, community, and compassion—offering robust ministry programs and outreach services. CCA recognized the need for its outdoor space to reflect its values and mission. This project was conceived to extend the spirit of hospitality beyond the church walls, inviting all members of the community to enjoy a thoughtfully designed landscape.
Project Scope and Install Highlights1. Full-Site Design and Community Focus
NFC collaborated with CCA’s leadership to create a plan that integrates beauty, safety, and accessibility. Our design promotes engagement for all ages and is fully ADA-compliant.
2. Synthetic Turf Dog Park
A high-durability synthetic turf area was developed for community pet use. Designed for drainage and long-term wear, this low-maintenance dog park adds year-round functionality to the campus.
3. Paver Patios and Walkways
Over 2,000 square feet of pavers were installed to create stylish, safe, and durable outdoor areas for gathering. These hardscapes provide clean transitions between landscape zones and serve as event-ready spaces.
4. Water Features and Custom Signage
Three tranquil water features enhance sensory appeal and serenity. The project centerpiece is a custom monument sign featuring an integrated waterfall, designed and built by NFC’s fabrication and landscape teams.
5. Outdoor Furnishings
Heavy-duty park benches and tables offer seating for reflection and fellowship. These installations support CCA’s goal to encourage lingering and connection within a safe and welcoming outdoor venue.
6. Xeriscaping and Rock Features
Sustainable, water-wise landscaping was implemented with native and drought-tolerant plantings. Decorative rock features and dry riverbeds were used to add texture and enhance water drainage.
7. Lighting and Electrical
Low-voltage LED lighting was installed to improve visibility, highlight features, and ensure security at night. NFC also provided electrical upgrades to support events and signage systems.
8. Irrigation and Soil Work
An efficient irrigation system with zoning and drip technology was installed. NFC prepped the soil across the site with amendments to improve plant health and reduce maintenance.
This project transformed the Calvary Christian Assembly grounds into a public-facing asset for the community. With safe walkways, serene features, and inviting gathering zones, the site now acts as an outdoor extension of the church’s mission. Community members and congregants now have a space that invites them to connect with nature, each other, and the spiritual mission of CCA. The project has become a model of community-integrated design in an urban faith setting.
