A Major Refresh for Fueling Stations Nationwide

When GPM Investments set out to refresh the appearance of several fueling stations across its network, the objective was straightforward: restore, clean, consistent branding while protecting critical exterior surfaces from long-term wear. To complete the work efficiently and with minimal disruption to daily operations, GPM partnered with National Facility Contractors (NFC) to execute a multi-site exterior painting program.

GPM Investments operates one of the largest convenience store and fuel networks in the United States, with thousands of locations supplying fuel or serving customers across more than 30 states.  Maintaining a consistent, well-maintained exterior is essential for safety, brand visibility, and customer experience at each location.

Scope of Work

The refresh project focused on improving the visual condition and durability of high-exposure exterior components throughout the fueling stations. NFC coordinated crews, materials, and site logistics to ensure consistent results across multiple properties.

Key elements of the scope included:

  • Surface preparation to remove dirt, oxidation, and weather damage

  • Exterior painting of fueling station canopies and structural components

  • Recoating metal columns, trim, and architectural elements

  • Painting protective bollards and safety features

  • Addressing worn or faded areas to restore brand-consistent color standards

  • Final inspections to ensure uniform coverage and finish quality

Fueling stations are constantly exposed to weather, vehicle traffic, and fuel vapors, which gradually degrade painted surfaces. Regular maintenance and protective coatings help prevent corrosion, extend the life of structural components, and maintain a professional appearance for customers.

Coordinated Multi-Site Execution

Working at active fueling stations requires careful coordination. NFC scheduled work to reduce interference with customer traffic and daily store operations while maintaining strict safety protocols around fueling areas and equipment.

The project required attention to several operational priorities:

  • Maintaining safe access for vehicles and pedestrians

  • Protecting fueling equipment and surrounding surfaces during preparation and painting

  • Delivering consistent finishes across multiple locations

  • Completing work efficiently to limit downtime at each site

By coordinating materials, crews, and scheduling across locations, NFC ensured that each site received the same level of quality and attention to detail.

Restoring a Clean, Consistent Look

The completed exterior refresh significantly improved the appearance of the participating fueling stations. Newly coated surfaces provide a clean, uniform look while also protecting structural elements from corrosion, UV exposure, and everyday wear.

For customers, the improvements are immediately visible. Clean canopies, freshly painted columns, and clearly defined safety features create a more welcoming and professional fueling environment.

For operators, the refreshed surfaces provide long-term durability and help maintain brand consistency across a large portfolio of locations.
