National Facility Contractors was proud to partner with Bright Horizons for their annual Bright Horizons Truck Day 2026, held August 29 at Bellevue College in Bellevue, Washington. The family-friendly event brought children, parents, local organizations, and some impressive vehicles together for a morning built around exploration, community involvement, and giving back.
Our team brought one of our snow plow trucks to Truck Day, giving children and families an opportunity to see a piece of professional snow removal equipment up close. Kids could climb into the cab, sit behind the wheel, and try out the controls used to operate the snow plow. As the photos from the event show, there was no shortage of curious—and excited—young operators ready to give the equipment a try.

What Is Bright Horizons Truck Day?
Bright Horizons Truck Day events give children the opportunity to get an up-close look at the vehicles and equipment they often see working throughout their communities. Rather than simply watching from a distance, children can explore trucks, learn more about them, and, depending on the vehicle, climb aboard and interact with some of the equipment.
For the 2026 Bellevue Truck Day, Bright Horizons invited families to Bellevue College for vehicle exploration, car-themed children’s activities, face painting, and more. The event was free, with attendees encouraged to bring packages of diapers to support Mary’s Place, a Seattle-area organization serving families experiencing homelessness.
This combination of hands-on learning and community support has long been part of Bright Horizons’ approach to Truck Day. Bright Horizons has described previous events as opportunities for children to explore vehicles while learning about the importance of giving back to their communities.
Learning by Getting Behind the Wheel
For children, a snow plow can be fascinating. They see these large trucks clearing streets and parking lots during winter weather, but they rarely get the chance to see what operating one actually looks like.
Truck Day changed that.
Children could sit inside our plow truck and get a closer look at the controls an operator uses in the field. That hands-on experience turned a familiar piece of equipment into an opportunity to ask questions, explore how things work, and learn more about the people and equipment that help keep communities moving.
Bright Horizons has incorporated this kind of vehicle exploration into Truck Day events for years. Previous events have featured everything from fire trucks and ambulances to tractors and other specialized vehicles, creating an environment where children can learn through direct interaction.
Truck Day Is Also About Giving Back
The vehicles may attract attention, but Bright Horizons Truck Days have a larger purpose: helping children connect a fun experience with supporting others.
Historically, Truck Day events have supported the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, a nonprofit established to help children and families experiencing crisis. Bright Horizons has specifically described Truck Day as a way to introduce children to the importance of giving back while creating an engaging family experience.
That mission has had a direct impact in the Seattle area. Bright Horizons Foundation for Children’s 2025 impact report notes that Seattle-area Bright Horizons centers paired a Truck Day event with a book drive for Mary’s Place. Families and participating centers contributed more than 1,500 books for children served by the organization.
For the August 2026 event, the tradition continued through the diaper drive benefiting Mary’s Place. Families could enjoy the event at no charge while contributing an everyday necessity that can make a meaningful difference for another family.
Proud to Be Part of Truck Day 2026
At National Facility Contractors, much of our work happens behind the scenes. Snow removal is a good example. When winter weather arrives, the right people and equipment help keep parking lots, entrances, drive lanes, and other exterior areas accessible.
Truck Day gave us the opportunity to show families a different side of that work.
More importantly, it gave our team an opportunity to participate in an event centered on children, families, education, and community support. Those priorities align naturally with our mission to Change the World and our commitment to supporting the communities where we live and work.
